TREATMENT OF PATIENTS WITH ANTIPHOSPHOLIPID SYNDROME
Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is being increasingly recognized as a disease with a myriad of clinical manifestations ranging from recurrent thrombosis and pregnancy pathology to heart valve lesions, transverse myelitis, thrombocytopenia and hemolytic anemia. Nowadays its treatment has predominantly thrombosis prevention orientation and includes administration of anticoagulant and antiplatelet agents for a long time. The methods of managing reliable and probable APS, during pregnancy as well as in asymptomatic carriers of antiphospholipid antibodies are considered in the article. Information concerning development of new approaches to the disease treatment is presented. Possible ways of treating refractory and catastrophic APS are described.
