METHOD FOR IMPROVING OPEN EYE TRAUMA OF CORNEOSCLERAL LOCALIZATION PRIMARY SURGICAL TREATMENT EFFECTIVENESS
An improved method for primary surgical treatment of penetrating eye wounds including those in the limbal zone using the autolimbal covering was proposed.
Materials and methods. The main group consisted of 40 patients. The control group included 30 patients. The treatment efficiency was determined by the condition of the wound’s edges, the recovering terms, and the posttraumatic iridocyclitis regression.
Results. Two weeks after the primary surgical treatment, the wound edges infiltration regressed in 40 (100.0%) patients of the main group and only in 26 (86.7%) persons from the control group. Iridocyclitis regressed in 38 (95.0%) patients in the main group and in 17 (56.7%) persons from the control group. The comparative analysis with the outcomes among the patients of control group showed the efficiency of proposed method.
Conclusion. The method proposed improves efficiency of penetrating wounds healing when the limbal zone is involved, reduces the complications number and severity thereby contributing to improving the trauma outcome and the treatment duration shortening.
